6. What does AOP, direct to print, dye sublimation, heat transfer and screen printing mean?
AOP: All over print are graphic’s that are printed on the front and back of a t-shirt or other apparel and products. It is better than dye sublimation as it can be cut and sewn to cover the whole fabric. Dye sublimation tends to miss area’s, especially around the collar or under arms.
DTG: Direct to garment printing, also known as DTG printing, digital direct to garment printing, digital apparel printing, and inkjet to garment printing, is a process of printing on textiles and garments using specialized or modified inkjet technology. The two key requirements of a DTG printer are a transport mechanism for the garment and specialty inks (inkjet textile inks) that are applied to the textile directly and are absorbed by the fibers.
Dye Sublimation: A dye-sublimation printer is a computer printer that uses heat to transfer dye onto materials such as a plastic, card, paper, or fabric. There is some liquifying of the dye. Since then, the process is sometimes known as dye-diffusion, though this has not eliminated the original name. Many consumer and professional dye-sublimation printers are designed and used for producing photographic prints, ID cards, clothing, and more.
Heat transfer: is used in textiles, a heat press can transfer the image onto clothing, canvas, or another surface. Transfer paper is used in creating iron-ons.
Screen Printing: Screen printing is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed.
